Beckerman Holds, Dempsey Playmakes,
Bradley Runs & Wondo Scores
The USA's second goal in the April friendly with Mexico. Stills and video...
Not only was it a terrific build up starting from the GK, Rimando, but the running by Bradley and coordination between him and Wondo were world-class:
Rimando bowls it out after a Mexico attack is snuffed out...
Dempsey attracts a triple-team, and wisely unloads it to a fast-thinking and -moving Beltran on the touchline....
Beltran composes himself and whips the cross in for Bradley to skip on for Wondo to finish...
And this is where it gets really interesting. Look at the coordination of Bradley and Wondo:
Wondo is in an offside position as Zusi receives the ball. This creates some space for Dempsey (very edge of the center circle, almost in the exact middle of the field) to check in to Zusi. Bradley (middle of the center circle) sees Dempsey's movement and waits for the space Dempsey is leaving to open up....
Duece draws three defenders and finds Beltran as Bradley heads for the hole left by Dempsey's run...
As Beltran receives the ball, Bradley has burst out of the center circle and Wondo is heading to the middle of the field...
Wondo hasn't seen Bradley yet, and they both start to break toward Beltran (see Wondo leaning to his right)...
But a split-second later, Wondo sees him (or Bradley shouts him off) and Wondo pivots back to the far post where he slides in the goal.
here's the film:
